Zenith Firearms cuts ties with MKE

No more MP5 clone import from Zenith, and apparently Century Arms would be the new MKE partner. Very interesting legal back stories.

Sounds like quite the ride for Zenith.

Pretty convoluted situation. I had thought that there would be a Turkish G3 clone on the US market by now, and I believe this was advertised by Zenith. I guess this is why it never materialized.

They brought them in. But like the 93 clone it had the trigger group perm attached to the buttstock and a modified mag well that only accepted 10 round mags so nobody bought them. They did import a 43k pistol (which I bought) that was able to accept standard capacity mags and it's my next SBR project. They could have done a 91k pistol but for whatever reason they didn't.

That’s what you get for dealing with Turkey.

I don’t say that without compassion for Zenith. More a cautionary tale for everyone. I have been tempted in the past to get a TP9SFx as a throwaway...nah. Not sending money there.

OMG, someone trying to deal honestly with Turkish weapon dealers got double-crossed and screwed? WHOCOULDANODE?!?!?!?!?

Good luck to Zenith, and will avoid Century as I always do.

By memory the MKE ammo wasn't very good either - jamming in rifles that worked fine with anything else, even ancient surplus.

If Century manages to bring them in at realistic prices and they QC is not jacked up, I'll be all over them. The first two batches of MKEs were rather nice.

Having a fair bit of experience in dealing with Turkish companies, both state and private, I can only concur that it is a very challenging environment

I made a brief summary by keeping only the key words :

    cuts ties

    product liability lawsuit

    plaintiff

    refused to settle

    judgement

    monetary award

    prevented from importation

    prohibited

    settling legal matters

    liquidated

    destroyed the market

    price no longer viable

    loss

    debt

    a bribe

    authorities

    arrest and imprisonment

    treason

    troubled relationship

    coup

    inflation

    sabotage

    breach of contract

    illegal

    line pockets

    cancelling
