I think I own a couple sets of everything issued since 1991. DCUs, BDUs, marpat, even have a couple sets of some limey stuff from an exchange with the British Marine Commandos. Those days are far behind me, I just turned 52 and I've been out for a while, now my kids wear them or I wear them when I do yard work, but otherwise they stay in a sea bag.

    It's comfy?

I still roll 1967 pattern tiger stripe and I've got some slant pocket ODs someplace. They are your clothes, wear what you like. Just don't wear unit patches, rank or decorations that aren't you.

    Ha. I’m 48+3 months...

Literally just got inside to warm up after a little snowshoeing outing with the NODs tonight. Guess what I was wearing? Gasp, Multicam. Gasp... good snow, but still lots of areas on the south facing slopes and around trees still bare. Guess what? MC is generally a great pattern for the current conditions and under NODs, well there’s another benefit to it.

I’m not .mil or LE. I’m someone who’s interested in being prepared and trained in things that might be necessary someday. I have no interest in being a “poser” or pretending. I buy and use gear that has a purpose and function. Call it LARPing or whatever, I’ll put the skills (shooting and other) of our group up against “more real” fellows, camo and all.

Do I wear camo everyday, of course not. Silly. But someone thinking someone else who’s wearing camo is only posing, or is only “tacticool” is just as silly. Lots of camo clothing is actually quite functional. Someone who doesn’t use it and only criticizes someone who does, cracks me up. Who’s the poser?

And hey, some of the A-Tacs patterns are killer looking. I don’t give two sheets if I am wearing a 3/4 zip combat shirt in A-Tacs camo at the range and someone doesn’t like it. Just continue on with your bench shooting or actually learn to shoot rather than giving a rip what some else is wearing. ‘Cause I don’t care if you’re offended by my camo.

When I obtained my DD-214 I happily went home and threw all of my uniforms away.
I do have a camouflage hat and seven day bag I keep handy as a BOB. Between food, motor oil, mud and dirt, I get pretty camouflage everyday. I swear to you I bought a Gyro the other day and got more on my shirt than in my mouth.

I wish I found out about more of the PCU(grey) stuff before it got recognized as collectible and sky rocketed in price. Instead, I got Gen III ECWCS in UCP. Kind of hard to beat softshell pants and jacket for $25 each new from a flea market vendor vs. Probably $150+ new commercial.

Not really a camo person but I have a woodland sweatshirt and pants somewhere. I also don't get dressed specifically for any one thing. T-shirt and jeans, even hiking (stretchy jeans). If I need to bring stuff I have a backpack.

That being said I wouldn't change my clothes based on who else is wearing them. Not concerned about what random people think, especially at the range. There's enough well meaning weirdos there. One guy I see occasionally, think the comic book guy from the Simpson's, has a long ponytail, overalls type jeans with suspenders and a civil war soldier's cap. The kind that's round on top and tilts forward. To each of their own!

Would a switch to solid colors be advisable? Just say goodbye to camo at my age?

Or continue to rock & roll as I have been?

Just trying to navigate the passing of the years without losing any dignity. Thanks for all feedback ...
I think you should do you. If that's what you like and it's not having a a detrimental effect on you, enjoy. Keep company wisely and conduct yourself intelligently, you'll be judged more by that than by anyone else that's at the range. That, and if you shoot well and handle guns safely, you're miles ahead of many others at public access ranges.

I don't really pay too much attention to what people are wearing...Especially other dudes. Honestly, it would have to be a pretty out there outfit for me to even notice or care.

Rock on with your camo self.
