    New to me S&W 442

Just had to brag... picked this up today: An early 1994 S&W Model 442, just a bit over $400.

I only buy no-lock S&Ws and I've wanted one of these for quite some time.

ETA: Had to complete the thread with a pic of the new grips

Beautiful. Of all the J Frames, the Centennial is my favorite.

    Nice pick up.

Nice score! That's one thing I do not have, a no-lock 442. I need to fix that.

Ive never seen those type of grips on a J-frame. Looks like you can get more grip on that thing. Might have to grab a set for my 442.

    I know, the guy that has 70+ revolvers doesn't have a no-lock 442.

You need to call me when you have some free time. I have some funny stories about this year's Revolver Roundup.

    No. Shot it today.

I have huge hands but that thing shifted around in my hand with every shot and with full house Buffalo Bore 158gr +P+ it nearly broke my middle finger on the back of the trigger guard.

I've goy some boot grips on the way, if that doesn't work I'll try a Tyler T Grip... but those skinny wood grips are a no-go for me.

I've got a Model 60 with boot grips, so hopefully that fixes things.

Check out VZ Grips if you're not opposed to synthetics. I have a set of the 320's on my 640 Pro that are more substantial than factory or boot grips.
