We will see a lot of that shenanigan with the new in flux of AR owners this year. I believe we have two types.

The one in the first post, with the dropping magazine and tap to the head, are the ones that watch too many videos/movies/play video games. They were not trained or actually know why certain thing is done. I believe Pat McNamara called it "institutional inbreeding".

The second group consist of literally first time owners that bought AR in 2020 due to the chicom plague and/or the race riots. I've met many. They've never held or even seen an AR up close until this year, much less thinking about owning them. They buy the guns and have no clue what all the buttons, levers and switches do. They may take the gun to some range and fire 20 rounds through it while others may not shoot it at all.

Riots are like sports, it's better to watch it on TV at home.

Sam, you could add a third type.....

First time AR buyer in 2020 who can't find ammo for the thing, so it sits new-the-box in the living room, other than opening the box to play and pose with it. The buyer begins second guessing his purchase and privately laments the poor decision, wondering how he can sell it.

I kinda clump all first time buyers into the same bag, but I get what you're saying.

My buddy, a semi retired insurance executive, bought his first AR but was one of those that couldn't find any ammo. I felt sorry for him and gave him 3 boxes (60 rounds). I'm sure all 60 rounds will still be there this time next year. The gun will still be in the case, stuck in the basement between the rafters. I told him to find a better place for it and take it out of the damn case. It's going to rust. I'm sure next year he'll call me and ask what are these gold color flakes all over the gun.

Probably the most common stupid move I see is rifle won't fire, pull the charging handle and a live round flies out on to the floor. Rifle won't fire again and cycle another live round out. Usually by the third round or so I will point out that the safety is on. Honestly it happens at least once everyday I work. It is an amazing social study that is quite entertaining. David
Try watching people launch boats on a loading ramp...such priceless entertainment. I’d grab a 6 pack and a chair @loading ramp for some cheap thrills when I retire.

This/\/\/\ There are a couple YouTube channels and that is all they are. One is the Chit Show. He gets to be a little much at times, but you can see the folks that blew there vacation wad on a boat because of CV19 and are now out on the water. There are so many folks lacking the experience to dock or launch a boat out there.

Buddy had to wait 3 months for any boat to come up and bought it sight unseen because they were going down the waiting list asking folks if they were in or out.

"Thread drift: I retired from the US Park Police. 10 years spent on the George Washington Memorial Parkway. I would say about 5 occasions I was called to the boat ramp at Gravelly Point near National Airport for vehicles in the water. I distinctly remember one woman standing on the roof of what appeared to be a brand new SUV almost completely underwater with her husband still in the boat screaming at her. Failing to set the brake and rolling down the ramp into the water was common but her standing on the roof was quite funny for me obviously not for them. David

Yep, I currently training 4 of those. Not even getting paid. But I wouldn't want to try and train the first type even if I was getting paid well. Gamer crossovers drive me nuts, the first problem is they try and do everything as fast as they can no matter how wrong most of it is. It's almost impossible to teach them anything because 1) They believe they already have training due to video game skills and 2) I spend all of our time saying "wait...stop" and trying to once again show them some basic 101 skills that they are vigorously dedicated to not learning.

I have grown up around boats, most of my family had boats, I spent decades diving with them and I still can't do that shit. Hell I can't even back one into a driveway straight. This is why I knew to never buy a boat.

At least the guy in the original video kept it pointed down range in all his shenanigans.
