    FAL bolts and carriers

Need a little info on bolt and carrier group of the FAL. I got a bolt and carrier group with the sand cuts today at the local funshow. What I need to know is do I need to have the headspace checked before I put it in my FAL, (DSA STG 58 carbine), or can I just put it in and go? Thanks for the help.

You should check headspace when you swap bolts on an FAL.

The bolt carrier also effects heads space. If you switch either bolt or the carrier the head space needs to be checked.

Could you elaborate on how the carrier effects headspace?
