    VZ58 ergo enhancement recommendations...

What are your personal likes or recommendations for ergo enhancements for the VZ58 such as extended safety, bolt release, mag release, optics mounts.

I see that there are many options.

From what I can tell the side receiver rial and RS regulate mount would be the best optic choice. However, I am also interested in anyones experience with the zahal receiver cover replacement. IT seems like the y way it clamps to the receiver it might really work.

Some of the extended mag release pics I have seen show the trigger guard having been replaced as well. I certainly hope that this is not a requirement for those models but I have not been able to tell for sure.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

I used a Zendl extended mag release and tactical bolt stop.

Then I added my own side rail plate (if you don’t have a Czechpoint one) and an optic mount from my own company. That way you don’t mess with any of the functionally critical components, and you can retain zero etc.

Lastly it greatly benefits from using a new stock. This I created a bolt on adaptor to use Magpul Yugo Zhukov stocks.

I remember having seen that pic before here and on the net in general. What a gorgeous rifle!

Do you offer the receiver rail itself and do you offer installation?

What issues if any do I need to worry about with 922r regarding the mag release and bolt release replacement. I ask because most if not all I can find are either made in Czech Republic, Canada, or Israel. But then I'm not sure if that really matters in this case for the VZ58.

It is really too bad the VZ58 doesn't get more love in the US.

I LOVE the RS Regulate stuff. I’ve got the Zahal ambi mag release. Didn’t need to modify anything to install. The magpul stock is a great upgrade. Just wish they would make an MLok handguard.

It isn't magpul but FAB defense recently started making an MLOK hand guard.

I actually love my Vz 58, in some way more than most of my AK variants. But the thing I most love about the Vz 58 is that it requires almost nothing in the way of improvements. It is one of the most comfortable comblock rifles I've ever shouldered. If I had to TRY and find something wrong with it, the magazine release could be a bit more accessible but it's really not much worse than say a FAL.

The idea of improving the ergonomics on one of the most comfortable rifles I've ever shot almost seems like a fools errand to me. It's like putting Hogue grips on a classic S&W Model 27.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

I tried the Magpul side folder, but the iron sights cannot be used with it (if that matters to you). It looks good.

I don't think it really needs much in the way of anything; the fixed stock is perfect. I did put a Magpul AK grip on mine, but it ended up being rocket surgery because I didn't want to remove the escucheon at the top of the grip to do it.

    An exceptionally good looking rifle.
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

Sorry, I meant I wish RS Regulate would make one.
