Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday rejected two of the Republican picks - Reps. Jim Jordan (Ohio) and Jim Banks (Ind.) - for the Jan. 6 select committee.

Both GOP lawmakers are staunch allies of former President Trump, and both had voted in January against certifying President Biden's election victory.

In a statement, Pelosi said Democrats in her caucus had raised specific objections to Jordan and Banks "and the impact their appointments may have on the integrity of the investigation."

"With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee," she said.

She did not specify what statements and actions she was referring to.

Jordan and Banks were part of a group of five GOP lawmakers nominated by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to serve on the 13-member select committee. But the language of the resolution gave Pelosi veto power over the Republican selections.

I was unfortunate enough to catch the just terrible acting job that everyone was doing at the Capitol theater, excuse me, "hearings" yesterday. Words do not do it justice. Adam pencil neck Schiff crying over the poor officers being insulted was just about the dumbest thing I've ever seen. And that was before he said something to the effect of, "the right thing to do is to accept the results of an election." Dems actually expect anyone to believe they give a crap about police officers, even when it's politically convenient? C'mon. i was waiting for them to stop waving the "defund the police" and "police are clearly white supremacists hunting minorities" flags long enough to pretend to care and even pretend to cry. What a joke.

Then we heard the officers themselves talking about whole hordes of the Capitol "mostly peaceful protest" chanting racist insults. There were only about a million cell phones recording stuff. Not that it doesn't exist but I haven't seen much to back up this claim. Probably because, as I heard yesterday, about 99.999% of these "right out of the playbook racism claims" turn out to be 100% false. So, when I see video, at least I'll know they're not total iiars.

Bottom line there is that the Capitol was poorly prepared. If that group of jokers can blow past their defenses, what would a team, with any coordination, training and actual weapons have done to them? I feel for them in that they were put in a crappy spot but in the midst of opening the doors for the "mostly peaceful protestors" and taking selfies with them, I don't see it as anywhere near what citizens faced all last summer when BLM came rioting through their cities and neighborhoods. Blocking and chaining doors closed and then trying to burn down police stations, killing security guards and destroying and looting everything else while terrorizing motorists unfortunate enough to be caught in the vicinity seems to anyone with a brain to have been much more deadly and traumatizing.

After all, only person that died directly from the Capitol protest was Babbitt and she was part of the crowd.
