I sent off my M85 parts kit to TRA a few months ago and got it back this week. I bought the virgin parts kit from Sportsman's Guide several years ago. The barrel is chrome lined and US made. Childers made a 5.56x45 receiver for me with the first and last initials followed by a space followed by my five character birth date. If you're going to have a custom serial number and have to put your name on the receiver anyway for the NFA, why not make it personal? TRA serial numbered the parts just like the factory did. Since I already have the approved Form 1, I was able to remove the blind pinned barrel extension this morning to "make" it in to an SBR. I couldn't be happier with the results.
