Goodness, let’s go full Q on this. That seems to work out well based on our recent history...
I’d wager $20 American Dollars that this parking lot naptime is a result of a totally f¥{k€d up JSROI plan or lack thereof...
Is anyone surprised that the DC Guard probably was having some command and control issues with a cobbled together “Y’all Come” security mission? How many days ago was the Capitol Police’s Chief fired?
*I think* every state sent a Guard contingent to support the Inauguration, which is a surefire way to know this was intensely political. While I have no love for the Democratic leadership, it is hard to name any elected officials except from Oregon or Vermont that would not bend over backwards for the Guard. The NGUSA is a potent lobby force that exerts some interesting relationships. Being sent to the basement has the National Guard Bureau popping champagne corks because they’re going to milk the Democrats for the next four years over this.
My Dad, retired Guard, made a great observation - “Hell, every guy or gal there is loving the federal retirement points. This whole Capitol thing is a gift in disguise.” It would be hard to believe anyone E3 or above would be complaining.
This really backfired on someone. Apparently, the Capitol Police are being blamed. You know some low level schmuck is about to get it in the neck.
Didn't take long for everyone in Congress to start "helping" with this and demanding answers. By and large, the .mil is probably one of the few areas of government that still has the respect of the public at large. And people got pissed over this.
Experience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.
It’s just another example of the elitist attitude that’s pervasive in that shit town. Cohen was suggesting some of them might be terrorists after all. They learned nothing from the events of January 6th. Nothing.

Looks like Abbott has ordered all Texas NG be returned after this shit show. I wish he never would have sent them in the first place.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) tweeted late Thursday night that he has ordered the return of the Texas National Guard to the state.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one
I was in the NG for 2 1/2 years before I went active Army for 20. I also was assigned to a NG unit for a year in Iraq. I have nothing but respect for the NG, but soldiering is a profession and its difficult to become proficient at a secondary profession.
Occam's Razor has to be applied. No one planned how and where to house/feed/care for the soldiers because they were too busy getting them and their gear to DC. The whole "they don't have cots" is ridiculous. Joes can sleep in or on anything.
They should never have had troops napping in the capital hallways, thats some 3rd world shit right there. The Guard soldiers are better than that, but were let down by poor senior leadership that is rampant in the National Guard.
Parking garages are the perfect places to set up in. They are easy to secure, offer some protection from the weather, and are spacious. Main stream media is just looking for clickbait.
I'm glad we have the National Guard, but this was a shitshow and a preview of shitshows to come.

Every Joe is issued TA-50. Those guys should’ve brought an A bag and a B bag and been ready to live in austere conditions. And cots are a unit property book item and a POMCUS stock. I’d imagine the BNCOs and below could’ve planned for that, or at least 1SG and supply sgts should’ve been on that.
Maybe I’m too old school, but every unit I was in, including USAR, we had bags packed and stored, trailers and pallets loaded ready for movement within six hours. AD was one hour and EVERYTHING was combat loaded. And the job of the 1SG and CSM was to take care of soldier logistics, like chow, shelter, medical and mail.
The worst job I ever had was as acting 1SG when I was troop operations NCO and got stuck with it for two weeks on a field problem. Ran my ass ragged taking care of the guys in the troop. But that was the job. Everyone got fed, got gear, and was able to get into the fight.

Photo op, clickbait or shitshow, whoever drove this f'd up twice: sleeping in halls of the Capitol, and then being displaced to a parking garage. I can see Andy's comments on why garages aren't all bad, but they should have at least planned for bathrooms and cots.
Insurrectionists and waving fail-state traitor flags in the capitol was sure to have blowback. Not sure why anyone is surprised.
Listen. Tell. Run Like Hell.
