What do you look for in a new job?

Let’s say you do not have a desire to be self-employed.

If you were looking for a job currently, what would be your priorities?

Is there a particular job or industry that you are interested in?

I worked in the Defense Industry.
There was a lack of Leadership with a spine. We had a clear contract, rules and regulations, but all of that was tripe.
So for me a clear and concise set of rules that we stick to would be nice. I got a call to come in one Sunday while I was a Church, I left rushed to work because "It has to be done NOW!" No Soldiers so I cant get in the Gate, Climb the fence, changed a fuel injector and the Truck sat there for the next two weeks.

    Geez!

That's a personal choice! Age, family, desires, abilities, goals....?

Without more information I say...Opt for fun I say! Don't work your butt off for 40+ years to enjoy the last few if you make it that far! Don't spend one second at a job that you don't like! Follow your bliss! make your work play and you'll never work a day in your life!

You said "not have a desire to be self-employed." I suggest rethinking this parameter and give it a shot. Most jobs are wage slave labor. I'm 60 as are most of my friends I grew up with. I took the above path and am having fun. They got the responsible 9-5 and when I see them it simply reinforces I made the right decision!

I won't advertise a business but check out this video and see what the reviewer has made for his business! I have no affiliation aside from having an Alchemy Prime 1911 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf9wtaZOB1k

I should have given some background.

This isn’t something I’m looking at, but I am involved in making a good employee better (personal opinion). I thought it would be interesting, and potentially beneficial for myself and others), so see what people are looking for.

To be clear, self-employment is almost always the way to “wealth,” but it isn’t for everyone. I have my own stuff that I do outside of “the job,” so I absolutely do not want to detract from what was said above.

If I were in the job market I'd be looking for:

    • Money
    • Benefits
    • Stability
    • Positive Work Environment
    • Recognition of Contributions
    • Money

I may be missing a couple of items but that's the gist of it.
What if this whole crusade's a charade?

being self employed and contracting my whole life but 3 years when INS made me get a job (wife is from another country)
at 57 I can say working for yourself is tougher you never leave it mentally and you tend to work it way more then a job BUT its yours and that is huge

I have been thinking get a gov job for next ten years just to get the benefits of insurance and stability in the coming years ?

good people I would work with #1
    do I love/like it #2
then income level based on above 2
    health insurance #3

    1. Something I actually have an aptitude for, preferably an interest.

    2. Stability. I'd rather have still have a job 10 years later than a big raise right now.

    3. Friendly work environment. People who like and help each other, not your typical office politics viper pit.

Based on the 2 worst places I have worked, the closer they get to hiring you on the spot, the more suspicious you should be.
