I'm surprised there haven't been any suggestions for Tikka. The new T3x UPR looks very interesting. The stock is more like a Manners or McMillan than their typical stocks, available in different barrel lengths and chambered in 260, 308 or 6.5 Creed. $1400 -$1500 on Eurooptic currently.

Fan of GA Precision. Also, the dude at Sniper central does 'semi-custom' builds; you pic the specs, he'll put it together.

As you’re looking for a traditional.308, I’ll note that I have been very happy with my FN SPR A1. Blueprinted Win 70, can’t get more old school than that. Additional length added to the stock and painted at McMillan, bedded by the vendor, and threaded with an Area 419 adapter for my can.

I am a novice at the long range game and with a 20 year old inexpensive mildot 10x, was getting repeated hits at 1,200 yds using 178gr Hornady BTHP... stopped there to help my spotter, and this was really stretching me & my optic. Most other shooters had a 5-25 or more and were shooting 6mm, 6.5mm and one .338 guy...

This year it gets an optic upgrade.

Nice rifle. I had been thinking about getting my "general purpose traditional rifle" for a few years now. Going back and forth on a few things. It was actually shooting Pappabears FN SPR early last year that I finally decided to pull the trigger. I love the FN SPRs. I went back and forth on several factory options like the higher end Bergaras and the SPR (when you can find one) and decided to just spend the little bit extra and get the semi-custom rifle built.

Yea I love love love my SPR. CL barrel, I got threaded, stock bedded, and put mcMillian cheek riser on it. I stoled mine from SGC when they must have picked up an overrun for $1k. The damn stock was $500+.

Been a great rifle to shoot. C-Grunt did it justice.
