Anyone know what this is inside my slide?

Took my AMT Longslide to the range yesterday to shoot about 150 rounds through it. I shot around 100 rounds of aluminum case ammo (maybe shouldn’t have but with ammo being scarce it’s all I could buy). Came home and cleaned it and noticed this inside the slide. Almost looks like a weld spot. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there before, I’ve had this gun about 4 months. Anyone know if it’s just poor QC when the gun was built 40 years ago or could it be the ammo? I’m hesitant to try and scrape it off.

Looks like they covered up a gouge in the slide with some solder.

    Meaning AMT?

I don’t believe it affects function. The gun isn’t the best 1911 I’ve shot that’s for sure. I had two fail to ejects at the range although it was while using that awful aluminum case federal ammo.

Yes, the manufacturer. I don't see that it would affect function either, but it could be argued that it has weakened the slide, I suppose. I don't think I'd be too pleased about it, personally, but it probably doesn't have any real practical downsides. Maybe someone who knows a bit more can chime in.

What's to know? Looks bad, covering up something. Demand replacement.

Can’t really do that for a 41 year old gun

    It's just a casting imperfection.

If that’s all it is then I have 0 issues with it. So long as it doesn’t create an issue down the road I couldn’t care less. Can’t see it anyway. Thank you.

    This.

Shouldn't be a problem. The higher area right next to the locking lug is where the barrel rides, as that spot's surface is lower, nothing even touches it.
