A military jury has sentenced Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Tony DeDolph, a member of the elite SEAL Team Six, to 10 years in military prison for his role in killing Special Forces Green Beret SSG Logan Melgar in Mali in 2017.

In addition to the prison sentence, DeDolph was also hit with a reduction of rank to E-1, forfeiture of his pay and allowances, and will be dishonorably discharged.

On January 14, 2021, DeDolph pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, obstruction of justice, and hazing. His initial charges had included felony murder.

From what I've read, it wasn't freaking "hazing". It was trying to stifle someone who had discovered their $$$ racket and wasn't playing along.

Wonder if all military personnel doing long stretches go to the USDB at Leavenworth? A shame if they did 'cause I've read if you do military Federal time that is the place to go as sodomy rarely happens since they run a really tight ship.

I used to date the Daughter of the former Commandant of USDB Leavenworth, interesting guy.
She was sweet, interesting, but still grew up very, very spoiled. He liked me, as I think he thought I was good for her, kind of stabilized her and brought her back to Earth.
He was a Second Lieutenant MP in Saigon and had some hilarious stories. Was a security consultant for years before he passed.
Loved Brandy and Ice Cream. Only other person I saw do that was my Grandmother.

When I was on active duty, you could only do a maximum of 5 years at the Camp Pendleton Brig. Any sentence longer than that meant that your unruly ass was either driven or flown to Kansas to serve the sentence.

It was a giant pain in the butt. I got "voluntold" for prisoner escort duty, aka Convict Chaser.

You stood behind the dude in the courtroom with restraints, a baton and a 1911. When they pronounced the guy guilty and read the sentence, you put him in restraints and took him to the base hospital. A doctor gave him a physical. You then took him by government van, airplane or three-legged donkey to Leavenworth.

You handed over the guy's paperwork and they gave him another physical. If he showed any damage, there had better have been a good reason for it.

I had to take two guys there. One was a pimp/drug dealer/loan shark that drew 17 years and a DD, the other was a rapist. He got 55 years and a DD. I did not cry over either one.

Neither one of those dudes really seemed to be looking forward to the trip there.
