    Delta ring installation

Do I need snap ring pliers to install the Delta ring? If not, what is a good work around?

For sure. Make sure you get the correct style. Some open when squeezed and other close. Some have fixed tips and other come with multiple-style, easily swapped tips.

Yes, the pliers work better, but I used a wide punch on my first few builds. Brace the Delta ring & spring, then use a wide punch to slip one side of the snap ring into the groove, then the other side. There used to be a YouTube video, which was how I learned this option.

I always assembled the barrel nut, Delta ring, then weld spring and used the punch to engage the ring. Once assembled as a unit, I would slide the whole shebang onto the barrel & attach to the upper.

When you use the punch method, you stretch the flared portion lateral to the barrel nut & get it into the groove on the barrel nut.

    Make sense?

It’s easier to do than describe.
