Harm in running booster in can on fixed barrel firearm?

Okay, so when you run a can on a typical tilting barrel pistol like Glock or M&P you need to run a Nielson Devide/Booster. Understandable.

Would you damage it in any way if you took that can with the same arrangement and then put it on a PCC?

Say I go from my 9mm Zev OZ9c to my 9mm AKV and not remove the booster. Will I damage anything?

Reason I am asking is because I really like the idea of the Griffin Cam-Lok as a QD mount type device and it would make life easier to just have both firearms with adapters and be able to just swap from one to the other. If not, then it isn't worth it since I would have to take the can apart anyway.

Alex,

you can use the booster housing and cam-lok for 9mm, but the spring should be replaced with a fixed barrel spacer to prevent movement of the booster assembly.

Why?

The booster is safe on a tilt barrel pistol because the its mostly the barrel that moves rearward and the pistol cannot fire until everything is back in alignment and locked up.

On a fixed barrel host, the pressure pushes the whole suppressor forward and possibly out of alignment.

This cycle can be much slower than the barrel/slide movement described above.

During that time, the action can fire again.

If alignment is not regained, mayhem can ensue.

That's the answer I needed! Looks like I will have to disassemble the can either way when going from pistol to PCC. Cam-Lock may not be worth it unless I get more threaded pistol barrels.

And if you're going to disassemble it anyhow, why not just replace the booster assembly with a fixed thread mount?

This gains volume in the blast chamber and drop 3+oz weight.

The above assumes the main body threads are 1.375x24 standard.

I was hoping to not have to disassemble in the first place. I will have a fixed thread mount and booster/piston to swap between AKV and OZ9 The idea was to have a QD and not have to take the can it apart. I may still get the Griffin Cam-Lock piston and mount, just because I like the QD aspect.

Silly Alex, the answer is buy another can.

Seriously though, follow Clint's advice above. That is the right way to do it. Disassembly is nothing unless you want to go from one to the other hot. It is also a great time to clean your booster.
