    Kalashnikov USA KR-9 SBR

I purchased a Kalashnikov USA KR-9 SBR. It arrived at my dealer today.

As you'd probably guess from the name and pictures, it's a 9mm krink style AK. Now the six to eight month wait begins...

    Nice!

Hopefully when your transfer goes thru reman and steel cased 9mm won't be $0.80/rd anymore...

That looks sweet. I haven't paid attention to K-USA. They were marketing vaporware for so long I forgot about them. I'm guessing that prior to deciding to drop the coin and wait for approval you dug into them a bit. How is their product holding up in the wild? Those are proprietary mags right?

Damn, Atlantic has the pistol in stock. Nevermind, don't answer my questions. I can't get sucked in...

There were a few issues at first, but they seemed to have ironed them out.

I paid $1,200 for it which is reasonable by today's standards. It looks like getting the factory SBR cost me about $100 more than the pistol, but I would have had to buy a buttstock anyway.

Turns out the KUSA butt plare is metal. I pulled mine off, and it was more apparent. Magnet sticks to it nicely. It is powdercoated heavily and even has what appear to be mold part lines in a few spots... but it's metal.

The KVAR buttplate is not a drop in fit either, but I'm sure it could work with some typical AK massaging.

The metal trap door from KVAR also does not fit. It's retained in the stock a different way, and it would not fit without heavy modification to either the stock, or the trap door..

I picked up a Resilient RS9 suppressor that's made specifically for the KP-9. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but here are with and without pictures.
