This thing is insanely quiet with 124gr S&B. I can’t hear a muzzle report at all when I shoot it - just the action cycling.

All that’s left is to get a sear. Soon...
Post a pic of that bad boy.

Also be aware that there is a difference in the bolt carrier or bolt I forget which between and SD model and a regular model.

I've had no issues with 115gr in my SD. And no difference in the carrier or bolt from a normal MP5, although I don't think they put the F group into an SD. Just a locking piece change.

Here's my SD. I wanted as close to factory as possible so I had TSC Machine build it off a demilled German SD kit and a DOJ HK94. Really fun but really filthy gun. I've got the Knight's Armament can on in the picture but also have a B&T for it.

Yea mine really liked 124gr nato but wasn't happy in full auto with weaken ammo. I'd run what they were built for.

That's what my SD was, a 94 with a SD kit and a kac can. TSC did an excellent job as always on it. I ended up selling mine last year though because I just never shot it. I hated cleaning the thing and I was always worried about it getting a squib round when I had it at MG shoots as people would want to run like 115gr "range" or practice ammo and it caused the gun to jam. Last thing I wanted was a squib that took out a 2k dollar barrel and a kac can worth at least that much. With my tsc mp5f conversion I wasn't worried as it runs everything. It will be far cheaper to fix if something goes wrong as well. In the end keeping 124gr nato ammo just for one gun and that was what caused me to get rid of it. It was just too expensive of a gun not to be shot often.

It's definitely not a good "only MP5." I've got three others and really love them, figured it was time for an SD. Mine runs fine with 124gr NATO and most 115gr bulk pack. Some very weak stuff has issues during full auto. But bumping up to a 120 degree locking piece runs everything.
I have the B&T can for my gun as well. It has significantly more back pressure than the KAC, to the point where the B&T will run weak ammo in F/A that won’t work without a locking piece change with the KAC. The B&T can is a stinker IMO, not particularly impressive soundwise either.

So long as you aren't running weak 115 gr. like Remington / UMC you'd be fine. I have buddies who run factory "pre mays" exclusively with Winchester White Box USA value packs and never had a hickup with thousands of rounds through them every year. But yeah, you ain't kidding...they run a bit dirty and they ain't the easiest thing to clean. They actually rigged up a compressed air thing as a first step and man you make sure you do that outside. Those Knights cans are remarkable. They keep functioning when you have so much buildup in them that it sounds like chunks of clay.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.
