    Swamp Rifle

Need 300 BO advice.. Rainier sells a 16 inch SS pistol gas barrel I am looking at. The rifle will never be suppressed but I will always shoot subsonic ammo. It's a swamp gun. Down here 75 yards is a long shot for deer/hogs. Will I have problems with the long pistol gas barrel. I know nothing about 300 BO.

300BO is built for pistol gas. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a different gas length for 300BO. You’ll be just fine.

I asked Discreet Ballistics about barrels about a month ago, since their website has drop-down boxes for barrel length and twist rate when ordering ammo They specialize in subsonic. I’ve been thinking about setting up a BLK and shooting only subs, lead free, only suppressed. Anyway, I got the following reply:

“If you can find one this is the barrel to get:

Honey Badger® Barrel Assembly - Live Q Or Die
The Honey Badger's stainless steel barrel <SNIP>

there are significant advantages to a 1:5 twist in expanding solid copper subs including lethality and stability at distance. Also check out www.mos-tek.com

I deleted the imbedded Q product description for brevity.

I’ve also been considering Xcaliber and one other brand that suddenly escapes my memory.

Not a recommendation, but I was browsing the other day and stumbled on this KAK 16" carbine gas 300 BO barrel. I thought something was strange about it.

Why shoot subsonic ammo without a suppressor?

It will still be pretty loud.

Supersonics generally give better terminal results.

^ This. Velocity kicks Mass's ass every time. If you aren't going for silence, then go for violence.
