No opinion on Faxon but can’t go wrong with White Oak 18” at Brownells ... in stock for now.

Thank for everyone's reply's, the one I was looking at was the heavy profile fluted match series I really want a 1 in 8 twist and 5r rifling. This rifle will be for varmint hunting.

    Check Brownells.

They have an 18" SPR barrel under their own label- made by Faxon. They also, at least a week ago, had TWO 18" White Oak SPR barrels, standard and fluted- looks like the fluted has since sold out.... Those sound EXACTLY like what you are looking for!

I bought a White Oak and the Brownells myself.

Get the White Oak. Way more consistent barrels and they are one of the best deals out there for precision barrels.

The White Oak is a better barrel period. Way more consistent than Faxon as a company and they have been making accurate barrels for a long time. People win competitions with them, not Faxon

How much experience do you have shooting. Any guns you can shoot 5 shot groups MOA?

Sometimes people get to focused on features like 5r rifling, fluting, etc when they should just buy something an shoot it.

White Oak has fluted options if that what you want. 5r rifling is not going to make a difference IMO, the quality of the White Oak over the Faxon will negate an perceived advantages of 5r rifling, I promise

I have been shooting 50+ years and reloading 20 I am working on my third ar build. My old BDL with its pet load will shoot sub moa all day long out of a cold clean barrel. I have a couple friends that have had good luck with there faxon barrels in the heavy match series, now this doesn't mean I have my heart set on the Faxon. I do believe the 5r rifling can make a difference. Heavy flutted stainless 1 in 8 twist Wylde chamber and nitride coating a must. I will do some research on the White Oak barrel and thank you very much for your opinion. My other ar's will shoot one around 1 and1/2 MOA with factory loads and the other just over MOA with match grade.

I am relatively new with the ar platform and appreciate all suggestions.
    Thanks again
    Daryl

This is the answer, right here.

If BA had their stainless SPR/Wylde chamber bbl in stock, I'd recommend that too.

White Oak makes the barrels used at the Camp Perry competition. Don't see why anyone would buy Faxon, when White Oak is an option.

The people turning the barrel is far more important than the features of the barrel.
