Would you build on this barrel?

Got a free Spike’s CHF barrel made by FN.
    But there’s a caveat...
Take a look at the chip on the locking lug next to the right feed ramp.

What would be the purpose of the build?

Is that rust or is it grease on the barrel extension or what? Hard to tell in the pic.

Clean it up build it and shoot it. I am pretty certain it will be fine. It ain't like you are out much if it sucks. If you are still doubtful, pm me and I'll send you the cash to ship it. I'll shoot it.

That is quite a chip out of the barrel extension, but rather than playing 50 questions, why not just tell us what your concern is?

    That’s the concern.
And I only asked 1 question.

Not you, man. The rest of us were sure guessing.

A CHF FN barrel may well be worth replacing the barrel extension. I cannot even offer an opinion about the current one.

I would run it as is. You have 8 lugs counting the feed ramps and a chip out of one lug should not be a big deal at all. Should not be a safety concern or affect the functioning of a rifle at all.
