Info & Value - Valmet M76 Tromix Magazines

    Hi All!

I found a stash of old mags I put away a long time ago to include some Valmet M76 Tromix mags I got directly from Tony Rumore back in the day... Any info would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Dennis.

The one on the left looks like an East German Weiger magazine.

I own a Valmet M76 and I have several factory magazine along with a few of the Tromix magazines. The one on the right looks like a factory Valmet magazine. I have no idea what either magazine now days are worth but the Valmet magazines are hard to come buy and usually are pretty expensive.

Sorta ironic that the Galil didn't just adopt the same magazine along with most of everything else they borrowed from the Valmet.

The Galil was developed using RK62 receivers. The RK62 was 7.62x39. I'm pretty sure the Israelis developed the Galil before the 5.56x45 Valmet was developed.

I have a couple of Galil's also and I have lots of factory magazines. Sure wish the Galil magazine would work in my Valmet, but the feed angle is all wrong withe Galil magazine. I also wish the Valmet and Galil magazines would work in a couple of other types of .223 AK that I own.

Makes sense, I keep forgetting that part. My first intro to the Valmet was the film "The Survivors."

Yup the right is an OEM mag. Do you have these or the waffle Tromix mags and do they work for you?

    Thanks!

The Tromix Wieger modified magazines work great, as well as the factory magazines. I bought the Wieger converted magazines from him about 15 years ago. I also bought a bunch of the unconverted Wieger magazines back when they where available. And I did the conversion to use them in Valmets myself using instructions I found online, they also work great in my M76. I also own a couple of 5.56 Arsenal AK's so I have the quit a few of the plastic Arsenal AK magazines. But I've never tried convert Arsenal magazine to fit the Valmet. But the instruction to convert Arsenal 5.56 magazine to use in the Valmet are also online. I broke the extractor on my M76. So I had to hand fit a new one and really since then, I have only put a couple hundred rounds though it over the last few years. I also have a Norinco .223 AK and a number of extra magazines for it. I converted a few of the Norinco magazines so they would work in a Galil.
