Debating getting a Trijicon ta44 or a Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 for my 14.5 pinned AK. Which would you take and why?

What caliber AK?
It’s a PSA AK103 7.62
Ok, I have a similar gun - a Russian SGL-21-61. I use a PA 1x prism on mine mostly but have messed around a bit with a 2.5x prism on it as well. Both are pretty compact optics.
If it were me I’d probably put the TA44 on it, just to keep the whole setup lighter and more portable, but I live in an area that is mostly forests and fields and rural/suburban neighborhoods. 7.62x39 definitely isn’t great for shooting at distance but if you feel like you at least want to be able to identify targets at longer ranges the Accupoint might make more sense.
Basically it all comes down to how much you prioritize magnification for the role you want the rifle to fill.
I run an RMR on my 7.62X39.
A 25 yd Zero puts me 4”+ high at 100, 2.5”+- at 200 and 11.5”+- at 300.
I don’t really need magnification to those ranges.
Uh, that’s 11.5”+- LOW at 300.

A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.
I have gone back and forth about putting on optic on my SAR-1. Between your choices, I would go with the TA44 (personally I'd go with the TA33, fwiw). 6x magnification is not necessary for me for my 7.62x39 use.
I didnt really want the ta33 bc the eye relief less than desired. On the ta44 the eye relief (from what I hear) is very good and forgiving. But there is also a 1-4 Accupoint that is a little lighter.

If you get a chance, take a look through the TA33 for comparisons sake- the eye relief appears better than the specs would indicate. It's quite popular with many folks for this reason.
Just a thought
I have a TA44 on my Bushmaster SBR. The clarity is great and I do like it, but I do have to put my head further forward than I typically do with other AR15's. The 2.4" eye relief specification is accurate. If you go with the TA44, the mounting position is going to be critical. I like the TA33 better, but it's bigger and twice the magnification.
LPVO’s are great optics but they don’t really work optimally on AK’s.
Given the choice I’d always go for a fixed low mounted optic over an LPVO and I’ve used tons of both. They just mount better.
(LPVO’s are too long and with eye relief make you position them above and forward of the rear iron site leaf, making cheek weld worse than it has to be for prism or other optics)
