I wouldn't hesitate to buy a good quality nitrited barrel. I have a nitrited 11.5 from BRT I can't wait to try.

I wouldn't spend more just to get a CHF barrel.

I had a 16 inch middy stainless steel barrel I ran hard for awhile. Don't let anyone kid you- stainless steel barrels are tougher than the internet would lead you to believe.

Colt barrels are made right. With good ammo, they consistently deliver 1.5 moa or better and the gas ports are the right size.
    Thanks.

The Hansons have more modern profiles, and reasonable gas ports. The threads are cut well. The chambers are cut properly. They shoot straight. I took the 11.3” out to 600 and something yds a couple of weeks ago, along with my 12.5” BA-based Grendel SBR, which I also occasionally shoot 500yd matches with.

    I like them.
I found some BA 11.5” and 12.5” available. I might go for the 12.5”.
    Thanks again.

I have bought a couple of stripped PSA lowers and uppers and some parts from them and they have all been good. No issues.

The BA Hanson line has better profiles than their standard barrels and includes a pinned gas block. I have less experience with my 11.3" Hanson than 1168, but I am quite happy with it. I would strongly consider the 12.x vs the 11.x. Both are good though.

Don't bother with nitride. Not worth it.

That is the one I just picked up a little while back. Need to finish assembling that one.

It just doesn’t seem to do anything. You get some corrosion resistance but longevity doesn’t seem to be a benefit. It takes like 1100 degrees to do nitride so that might have something to do with it.

    10.5” CHF barrel or 11.5” Non-CHF barrel.

I am going with the 12.5” BA barrel for now since I found one locally.
At some point in the future I’ll upgrade to a 12.5” CHF barrel.
