How does 7.62x54R feed from a belt?

...when it has a large rim?

I'd like to see animation or an explanation how that works.

And why a belt could feed say, .357 magnum. 😃

There’s a “fork” that grabs the rim and pulls it rearward from the belt.

Its the bit at the top of part number 7, that points at part number 5.

Same as the Browning design except they are closed bolt. (That strong pull out game! )

An old, Russian, full power (unlike the 7.62X39 intermediate cartridge) used in their bolt guns (WW2), Nam era sniper guns “Dragunov” and squad automatic weapons.
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

Except for the Czech VZ-59 machinegun. It's 7.62x54R and uses push-through links.

I THINK there was some form of belted 45-70. Can’t remember but I swear Ian did a video on one.
