*UPDATE* Disappointing outcome - first time out with .308 build

First time out, it chambers a round using the charging handle but won’t feed a round from the mag. The bolt either goes into battery on an empty chamber or drags across the top of the next round and pulls it partially out of the mag and wedges open on top of the case. Spent cases eject cleanly at roughly 4 o’clock. Bolt does not lock back on an empty mag. I believe it’s short stroking. Looking for some troubleshooting guidance, any suggestions?

    Details:
Aero carbine buffer tube, 3.8 oz buffer and spring - purchased as a kit
Aero NiB BCG - gas key is tight and well staked
Wilson Combat 16” barrel, non adjustable gas block and intermediate length gas tube
MagTech 147 gr M80 Ball ammo
Magpul pmag- both mags I tried were brand new

    Thanks in advance...

This sounds like a gas issue. What is the port diameter?

    Agreed, sounds like short stroking.

You will probably need to check gas block and make sure port is aligned.

I may have misread your op. Does it lock back on an empty mag - load one round, shoot, does it lock back?

I did misread, I apologize. You are not getting enough gas. Make sure your gas block is properly alined and if it is, you may need to look at the gas port. I have had issues with Wilson 300 blk barrels and their gas port sizes as an FYI. Wilson is totally solid and will address any issues you are having.

I'm guessing misalligned gas block as well. Overpassed is usually the problem. And your underpassed, so yes check that block.

    Good luck.
