    Diemaco C8 build

Here is my Diemaco C8 custom rifle build. It has the proper Diemaco marked upper receiver and the correct charging handle. Still looking for a lot more of the correct parts. It currently has a Colt M4 barrel assembly but I would love to find a CHF Diemaco 15.7” barrel. A few days ago, I purchased a Diemaco NOS pistol grip for it. Still waiting for that to arrive. My C8 uses an H2 buffer, Norgon mag release, an ALG trigger, LMT ambi safety and LMT enhanced bolt carrier.

ODG furniture would be nice to have and I missed an ELCAN L79 sight a few days ago.

    Thanks for looking.

Thank you! It’s still a work in progress.

Sam, beautiful start. If you don't mind stand-in, Gunkote Napa Green is very close to Canadian Average Green, it's what several Canadian buddies settled on as "best fit" for my girlfriend's C8.

    The his-hers set:

We didn't use a lot of Diemaco though, the endplate and BUIS are genuine CF surplus and the rail and foregrip are "same vendor/part number," lower is Umbrella as a nod to the GF but otherwise it's setup exactly the same as one of my CGN pals had his Over There.

The Elcan and an affordable Eickhorn bayonet are our stumbling blocks... the latter, I've told C. she has to buy for herself because I was raised with etiquette that "gifting a knife wounds a relationship."

    Diamondback,
Those look very nice. I’ve missed out on a lot of original Diemaco parts listed on Gunbroker. The NOS Diemaco grip was well worth the $60 that I paid for it. I found a reproduction charging handle latch. If you’d like one let me know. I have an extra. My Diemaco upper was a decent deal as well. Still looking for a barrel, handguards and a bolt. If you have any thoughts on parts PM me.

Thanks, Sam. Our CH latch is a Diemaco 1st-gen hook, one of the guys here is looking to try and clone the new one they just adopted along with the various weird endplates. True North Arms used to make Clone Claws, but no longer exports them.

Handguards, you're looking for round CAR-15 style in green. Getting a Diemaco bolt would be tricky... we're just using a Toolcraft from my spares stash. We were more concerned about "correct appearance" and "function" than "exact brand," though--she put a budget cap on the build and bet I couldn't come in under... big mistake, collecting is gonna be REALLY fun next time she's in town.

I’m cool with my furniture being black. I’ve seen the C8 in both green and black. Retro Rifles had the correct pebble finish buttstocks but no longer. The end plate would be nice to find. Any contact info on the gentleman reproducing them?

Thanks for the information. My search has me all over in internet. Parts are hard to find, that’s for sure. The C8 is just one rifle in my collection. I also have a C19. But that’s a different animal.

Yup... if I can ever find inch-pattern parts, someday I'd also like to do a C1A1 FAL or whatever her dad would have checked out on in the '50s-'60s RCAF.
