Passenger should have been on comms without direction and should have bailed when Steve did. Vehicles are killboxes.

Unfortunately, he didn't have a clue and it could have cost him his life.

Oh, and there are already Steve memes floating around...

Passenger was probably nothing close to a trained operator, very conscious of his hourly rate and likely had a black guy in front of haunted house "I ain't going in there" mentality.

Actually passenger guy had decent trigger finger discipline, even when he was doing the two gun juggle.

Seems like they shoulda been sounding the alarm as soon as the first shots landed. The passenger seems to not know what to do....

Driver gets the "Operator as F***" (in a good way) award of the week.
Still, if not for that bulletproof window, he'd have bought it 8 seconds in...something to think about.

Passenger, well... he's obviously either the "new guy" or the "day hire"/part timer/ "tactical caddy". Dude had no clue and/or blue screened - got that wide-eyed thing going on. Can't really blame him, but...
Driver obviously came ready to fight at the expected threat level rifle & extra ammo, which seems to me to say that someone somewhere knew damn well what they were getting into and briefed people on it (or at least word got around that the 'nother day at the office routine was over for the foreseeable future). Although if that's the case I have other suspicious questions...
Passenger guy looks they pulled him off the front desk. Maybe they were short handed and actually did? Who knows...
At 0:12, he's pulled his sidearm even though the armored windows are still good, then I assume driver is trying to get him to check/ready the rifle, but after fiddling with it, at 0:26, he then tries to hand the rifle back to driver for...reasons? then finally at 0:35 chambers a round. The pistol is still out and floating....which we'll see reappear later at 1:43 when driver says to "phone Robby" at which point Passenger then proceeds to SWEEP driver with it, turning it barrel up as they fiddle around, seemingly looking for somewhere to stash it so they can get a hand free for the phone. Good thing they didn't hit any bumps yet, or get rammed right then.
Obviously video cuts out a bit soon to say what happens after driver left the car. That being said...IF it was me, I kinda would have felt better leaving the poor fella in the armored box, as long as he gets at it with the phone.

I'm going to bet that rifle is some sort of "company issue" and they can't change it, or personally owned and he can't change it, because it's all he's got. Same for the armor.
SA ain't Murrica, even if they do allow you to tote for your job...

IF that's so, that + luck are the only reasons the driver didn't sprout an extra 9mm-sized hole in his face around the afore-mentioned time-stamp.

There are certain hiring requirements around equity in South Africa, regardless of qualification. I’m not saying I would have done anything different or been any less scared, I’m just providing context.

That's where I am. Passenger might not have been operator ready but may have been smart enough to realize "I have no business being out there" and acted accordingly. If he got into the mix, he might have simply gotten shot and been one more thing on the drivers "to do" check list.
