Sweden and Finland to jointly adopt new service rifle

It'll be interesting to see what our Nordic friends come up with:

"In September (2021), a procurement will start that affects many people in the Swedish Armed Forces. It will then be determined which firearm will replace the AK5. The new firearm will be purchased together with Finland – which means that the countries will use the same automatic carbine in the future."

Jesus, please send those AK5 parts kits to us so DSA can make AK5 receivers.

F'ing ATF barrel ban. Can you imagine if these came in around 1999 about the same time Germany flooded us with all of their G3s and accessories.

Good lord I need a Green FNC with a round ball charging handle. AK5 is my current unobtanium wish gun.

Back OT, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up with some M4'ish or 416 platform.

I agree they will likely go with the 416 platform. That is what Norway and Denmark did. I did manage to mostly transform my FNC para into an AK5 lookalike back about 14 years ago. I managed to find the correct green furniture, charging handle and trigger guard and the rifle looked pretty close.

I bet it will be an LMT. If not a 416 then definitely an LMT.

I'd like to see LMT get it, mainly because they are a small business in the US.

If Sweden and/or Finland wanted to manufacture one of LMT's designs under license, wonder if LMT would be agreeable to that?

I would love for LMT to get the contract,as they are a local business.
But I'm going to guess the 416 gets the nod...<just wild speculation on my behalf.

No more AK5s and RK62/95s, huh?

I'm thinking what everyone else is: 416. With Norway, France, and now Germany officially adopting the 416, plus with the Marines using the M27, the 416 is quickly becoming the 21st Century's FAL.

So Sig winning everything is just a US phenomena?
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

Yeah...kinda. Maybe one day WE will be able to get a 416.
