    Rem "la"#7 1/2 primers

Bought some 'Remington la 7 1/2 small rifle primers' on Graf's the other day. Does anyone know what the "la" stands for? I already called Graf's and they don't know either. Thanks in advance!

Remington replied back to me today. They said it stands for "less alimony" and there is no difference in performance. Whatever they mean by "less alimony"!

I’m wondering if they meant Less Antimony? A heavy metal that is present in primers.

I'm pretty sure they meant "less antimony". Antimony is a heavy metal that can be toxic if you are exposed to too much.

That sounds correct. "Auto-correct" feature probably changed it to alimony. I'm new to reloading so I didn't know they had antimony or I would've realized that's what she meant. Thanks!

Ok,I just got another email from Remington. Here is the email.

I am so sorry . I got the message wrong from sone one.

It means less aluminum, which means less flash from the primer.

    With kind regards,

Interesting. I wonder if that means a milder primer.
