FN's new "Evolys" light machine gun

Wonder if this will be a sales success for FN?

Interesting, looks like reduced weight is one of the main selling points. I do like the mlok monolithic design. Wonder how the reduced weight will affect recoil, especially in the 7.62 version.

It's interesting to see where the M240 has progressed.
I've worked on M60's M219's and M240's. I will take the 240 every time and without hesitation.
I would like to see this further explored and tested.

Its not a replacment for the 240, the evolys doesnt have a quick change barrel so it will never be a replacement for a sustained fire/support by fire MG.

My understanding is that is a possible replacement for the 249 SAW.

    In 5.56 or 7.62?

Looks ok, but I don't understand belt feds without a QD barrel.

And if we were gonna replace 240/249s with anything I'd look hard at the KAC products.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

It could be either. I haven't read one way or the other. 5.56 seems logical but a lightweight SAW in 7.62 would give a small squad decent "punch".

I understand all of that, but I look at that and that looks an awful lot like a 240. New and improved for sure, but still a 240.

    Mk48 would like a word.
