    Recent 6920 prices

At the gun show this weekend there were three 6920s for sale, all new in box.

One was $1599. One was $1299. One was $1100.

I give up trying to understand any of this.

Local shop I go to is selling them for $1050. The other shop in the area is selling them for $1299. I have no idea the whys of it other than maybe different distributors, quantity pricing, and simply what they think customers are willing to pay.

I bought mine a few months ago for $1099, and I believe the msrp is $1199. I wouldn’t pay more than that unless it’s an M4 carbine marked lower.

There are still people on Armslist here trying to sell mixmaster ARs for over a grand. I'm good on ARs, so I have not been checking Colt prices in the gun shops.

I have been seeing them around $1100 for the newer ones

I am assuming some are placing a premium on the older LE marked ones, if they have certain markings (C marked bolt etc). Maybe the one at the gun show was an older one and they thought it would bring a premium over the newer "CE" marked models that may or may not have the other markings

I didn't inspect them for those subtleties.

In 2018 I bought a brand new M4 Carbine marked 6920 for a tad over $900 out the door.

What's even more amazing: The Smith Sport used to sell all day long for $499 plus tax. I saw one change hands at a gun show for $1100 plus tax. It's a solid entry level rifle, to be sure, but over a grand? Yikes!

I bought 3 Police trade in 6920 uppers today, with Troy rails, complete for $399 apiece and shipping. Seemed like a good deal. Gonna sell off a couple of spare uppers, keep two of these as replacements and build a basic rifle with the last one.

Built a Palmetto lower awhile back-- SOLGW Blaster LPK, Magpul Moe buttstock, take off Schmidd trigger/hammer, H1 buffer.....Good basic rifle.

Lower receiver markings affect price. From highest to lowest:

    1. Restricted marked
    2. M4 marked without QR code, all markings rolled not engraved
    3. M4 marked with QR code, serial number typically engraved not rolled
    4. Most recent “Carbine” marked with all marking engraved
