Back then they came with a carry handle, side sling mount, 2 20 round mags, sling, cleaning kit, and manual.
The one I just bought from a guy on here came exactly like that. I can't remember if it came with the side swivel, but it came with the 20 rounders in the accessory kit, which I thought was really strange. Colt must have had a bunch of twenty rounders they needed to unload on someone back then.

For comparison the DD M4A1 is selling for $2,045
    Nothing spectacular about it either.

It comes with a pretty expensive rail, but yea, definitely overpriced for what you get. Not too far off from a KAC.

In mid-2019 I ordered that exact rifle from TSS Warehouse for $1550 new. Was not very impressed with it and ended up selling it. Didn’t do anything my Colts don’t do and I prefer a fixed front sight post.

If you are going to go back that far - They were down below 800 for a good while. Ups and downs for sure.

Guys paying over a grand for these now are getting raped.

These guys paying 1400 and up make me think of that Ice Cube song 'No Vaseline'...

Saw a new Smith sport move for $1100 + tax at a recent gun show. They were fine at $500 but gee whiz.

They're under a grand at several other places.

Even in CA 6920's are in stock for under 1200 bucks in a featureless configuration. IMHO this is the best way to go from Zero to Hero with as little drama as possible. Both my 6920's are into 1000's of rounds joy with no problems. This has become even more important with limited ammo. I have not been able to train as much as I like, but still have solid confidence in my rifles.

With yesterday's ruling, an already stressed AR market in CA is now even more crazy but 6920's are still in stock.

I know there are lots of choices out there, but the 6920 is about as close to the easy button as you can find.

But are they any better than say a S&W Sport II?

I’m not being facetious, it’s a genuine question.

From what I’ve read they’re not true Colt (manufactured in house according to TDP)
    rifles anymore.
