    Not at all.

.38 acp, .22 Long, Webley calibers, etc. Are but suggesting .45 acp is is silly.

I think a single shot .50 cal would be a damn effective man/buffalo/watercraft/zeppelin stopper

Well, that does it. I'm going with two pistols on my "war belt"! A Walther PPQ 9mm on my strong side and a Colt 1911 Series 70 .45 ACP on the weak side. Then when things go south, and I have to put a bad guy down, I'll alternate shooting the 9mm and 45 ACP. If he happens to still be breathing, I'll ask him which one hurts the most

relevant in what context? I simply do not see the need for the question in the first place, outside the context of antifa / Buy Large Mansion mobs blocking streets. In which case if an individual is facing a mob of that size and they're armed? And all you have is your 1911 & maybe a couple extra mags? That is not a deficiency on the part of a 1911 or .45. It is a scenario which requires proper judgement to deal with effectively, part of that being armed should the worst happen, either to bad judgement on the individuals part or the mob becoming violent.

    1. Relevant in that he wishes people to still know him as a SME of sorts.
    2. Agree, I also don't think that question needed to be asked either. On could ask if the 45/70 is obsolete given the .338 Lapua or ______ fill in your choice of obsolesence

If mag restrictions come back, I see 45ACP gaining favor. Sure 9mm for CCW, but if it’s just a gun with out a size restriction, A normal size gun will hold 10 45ACP just fine. I’d rather have 10 45 than 10x9. Not really a huge difference, but I agree that 45ACP is ‘smoother’- definitely than 40SW (where did that go) and more push than a 9, but less snappy.

STI 45ACP 2011 or the FN 45s. Those are just hand filling, solid lead throwing titans.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

I don't know what SME means, never heard the term. Either way I agree with you, if he wants to be relevant, bring up a relevant question.

As for: is 45/70 obsolete given : pick-your-caliber? Is a good illustration. You are correct, what would be the point of debating that?

FromMyColdDeadHand brought up a relevant question about .45. If potted plant manages to force through federal mag restrictions, ie: capacity, such as we had to deal with via his previous "legislation"

10 round limit or something along those lines?

A std. 1911 has inherent advantages owing to it's std mag capacity. And we're not stuck with some unworkable means of self-defense, off-the-shelf 1911 can get the job done. It has proven that for a long time now.
