Yeah, it sucks. But in hindsight, now I have a match grade barrel, that most likely locks up tighter, then the original ever did. All I know is she is a very accurate machine, that seems to also be very reliable. I am very satisfied.
You did better than just that. Now you have a match grade barrel that is threaded and a comp!
The 'fun factor' went way up for me when I got my first comped 1911. Went up again when I learned how to reload for a comp and help it work even better.

Actually, the barrel is not threaded, and the comp acts as the barrel bushing, it is attached to the slide.
It’s still pretty cool though.
I own an Auto Ordnance M1 Carbine and it took a great deal of money and effort to get it to work reliably. If the quality of the 1911 is comparable, I would not buy one.

That has nothing to do with, M1 Carbines, made by the original company.
