    S&W 17

I just bought this 1960 made 17, the K-22 Masterpiece

It has honest wear, scars, German proof marks and a patina to it. I’ll use it as a shooter, bought it for $ 530

    Ulm proof mark from 1962

A GECO stamp, they probably imported it into Germany back then

    25 m target

    Edit. It’s a 17 no dash, I got confused with my friend’s 1966 -2

Nice. Enjoy it and the freedom to have it.

    One of my grail guns.

Riots are like sports, it's better to watch it on TV at home.

That is what I would have guessed. Very nice piece.

I've got a 17-2 that I love. It came to me with non-original grips, so I added elk antler to it.

Be forewarned. 17s have tight chambers. Some brands of ammo become difficult to extract pretty quickly. Keep her clean, and run ammo that doesn't foul with lube too bad, and you will be very happy.

Nice old "4 screw" OP. That should shoot well.
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

I have a beautiful 18-3, sweet little gun. I am keeping my eyes out for a nice Model 15 to go with it.

Chubbs103 is right about tight chambers. I have that issue with the 5 screw model my Dad left me. Other than the chamber issue it is a sweet shooter.

I have one like it and I believe the date is 1959. I bought it at a local gun store in 2001 for $289. Mine has the smaller circumference S&W wood grips. I put Pachmayr grippers on it but went back to the factory ones it came with for their vintage look. To be honest, I really haven't put that many rounds through it even though I've had it for 20 years. My Ruger Mk. II's get more use. Not that I favor the Rugers that much, but I'd rather put the mileage on them than the much older S&W.
