    Best Scope Mount for M1A?

I have been looking around for m1a scope mounts...So far I have come accross the factory Springfield mount which has mixed reviews and the ARMS #18 mount. The ARMS #18 has good reviews but mixed fitment issues with some modern M1A's. I would honestly like the ARMS mount for a blackhawk down look.

Anyone have experience with other branded M1A mounts?

Im looking to stick a red dot on there; I already have an AR10 for a gas gun with magnified optic.

    Thanks in advanced!

Smith Enterprises, Sadlak and GDI Engineering are the three I have experience with and all were rock solid. SEI are heavy, Sadlak has their Airborne which is lighter or their titanium which is lightest but expensive and GDI is somewhat smaller and lighter. Then there is the Bassett which is the minimalist approach but just works, I would stay far far away from the Springfield.

I have lots of experience trying to mount scopes on M14s. Most suck, mightily.

Probably the best and most solid arrangement is the scope bosses LRB build directly into the receiver -- no threaded bolts to back out or break, no oscillating and vibrating bases to loosen:

You have to drill and tap your receiver for this one. I don't know if there's enough clearance to remove your bolt for field-stripping and cleaning:

There might be other solutions here:

If I was going to scope an M14/M1a I'd throw it in a Sage EBR chassis and use their mount.

This is no joke. I already have a Springfield and I almost bought a LRB build just to have a good scope option. I have an ARMS mount, seems to suck least of the ones I've tried but I wouldn't want to bet my life on it and I know I won't be pulling off any Carlos Hathcock shit with that arrangement.

For a red dot you could probably get away with an ARMS #18 as they are less demanding than long range, high magnification optics.
