Are the Rifle RMRs (electro) plated?
I know their pistol bullets used to be.
If yes, that could explain the barrel needing “sweetened” with several rds.

A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.
I don't think heat is a factor but you never know.
On this last trip, I shot two 5 shot groups of 52 CC blems, Group #1 was 0.64" and #2 was 0.75". Mostly horizontal spread and which I attribute to wind. Then I shot some 77 SMK blems, still in inside of 1 MOA.
Next up was the 69 RMR. First five were wild, with a lot of vertical, and the next group settled in. All were loaded with IMR 4320, similar to Varget in burn rate.

On Sunday, I shot the 69RMR with 23.0(HOT LOAD) SMP735 surplus ball powder, out of my 16" SR-15 with a 1-4X P4Xi, and was pretty happy with how well it shot at 610 yards. The target was a 12x10" flat rock on a hillside and even in varying winds, I was able to hit it repeatedly. The gun shoots great with 77 Noslers but like others, I am looking for an alternative in this drought.
I used .169 G7 BC which is the same as a Hornady 68BTHP, and a rough guess of 2750 FPS.
I zero at 100 but the P3TR reticle is setup for 200 yards. Using the 600 yard hash, which is 13.75 MOA, I hit just below the target. The calculator showed 15.1 MOA so I added 1.25 and it was right on.
What drought??

Well, they're stupid expensive due to being in limited supply. The last time I bought the 77 was in 2017 for 130 shipped/1K.
Since then I have bought some blems for similar. They shoot pretty good with the occasional flyer.
At 30-35 cents a piece, I'd rather shoot a 75 or 80 ELD out of my bolt gun.
XRF analysis says the RMRs are Bronze 220: 90% Cu, 10% Zn
For comparison, Nosler CC are standard gilding metal: 95% Cu, 5%Zn
**Actual results from 1 reading each: RMR:89.35%Cu, 10.65%Zn | CC: 95.59%Cu, 4.41%Zn
No other XRF-detectable elements (metals) were present in either bullet.

That's moochie interesante! Would that mean the jackets are harder?
