My neighbor gave me some of these to play with. So far they don't shoot as well as a 77 SMK or NCC in my gun but I think they have some promise.

Rifle is a Lone Peak action with a 7.5 twist Krieger. 22.8 8208 (light load), FC brass that was annealed, BR4 primer-because I have a lot of them and like the harder cups.

All three 5-shot groups at 100 yards yielded sub MOA with one near 1/2 MOA. I think I need to play with seating depth as I had one shot on two of the groups that I would consider a flyer, and caused the groups to grow substantially. They were still counted.

Gel performance on the closed tip looks good,wonder how it would perform from a 12.5” barrel in calibrated ballistic gel.

In my quest to put together a load that I could make on my Dillon 550 and still be sub MOA, I proceesed some brass and made a small batch using the 69 grain RMR, 25.3 (edit) SMP 735 surplus ball powder, Fiocchi SR magnum, and misc brass consisting of LC,FC,and PMC. Powder was thrown with the Dillon measure.

I grabbed the bolt gun on Saturday and shot at 330, 420, 545, and 1000 yards. Wind was mild, between 2- 5MPH but was changing almost constantly. Temp hovered in the mid 50s. Primers were slightly flat but extracted without an issue. I will probably turn the load down a couple tenths to compensate for warm weather.

330 and 420 yard steel were first shot hits on 10" circles. 545 was high on the first shot and the next was a hit on an 8" square. After I took a couple shots on it, I tried a couple on a 4" square and hit 2 of 3. I had 3 left and shot at a silhouette at 1000. Shot 1 and 3 were unknown but 2 was a confirmed impact. The mirage made it really difficult to see what was happening at that distance.

Next is to try some loads with the same headstamp and put them on paper.

Would you guys offer any updates on these? I'd like to save my 77 smk loads for 600+ yard shooting. I'm looking for something that will do well inside of that, and as a general practice round. Based on what I'm reading here, I'm thinking about order 1k to see how they do.

Honestly, if they can hold moa at 600... I'd just start loading these exclusively. Also, has anyone used CFE223, Benchmark or Varget with them?

These are remarkable for the price. They are all day long to our 750. Buy with confidence. We use H322 and if we are slapping steel CQB or long range. You can mortar 1,000. All is good.

That's pretty much what we're doing. I'll load a few hundred 77s every so often so we have them available. But we're loading/shooting these weekly now.

Also, has anyone used CFE223, Benchmark or Varget with them?

I don't like Varget's metering or bulk density for .223. It will work, but it's not the best choice. Of those, I'd shoot CFE. Benchmark worked best for lighter bullets for us, but I never got Super results in 69 and heavier OTMs. (not that you can't get there, I'm just lazy)

That's fair, I appreciate the reply. I use 24gr of Varget under the 77smk as my normal match load. I stock CFE 223 and Benchmark, so I thought I'd ask. Whenever H322 shows up again, I'll buy some. I know a lot of guys who use that and TAC and keep telling me to switch.

I put the order in for 1k to try them out. I can shoot a lot more often with these if they work out.

Don't get me wrong. Varget will give great results. It's just that you can get the same results with powders that meter a little better. I've heard guys say Varget is great... you just can't get enough of it in there. (for .223 specifically)
