I miss the days of 77 Noslers at $120/1K. My stash is dwindling as well. Lately I have been doing a lot of shooting inside 550 yards with the AR, and have an older Remington 700 Tactical with a 1:9 twist, so the 69 grain bullets make a good substitute.

Going to the 69s, I get a bump in velocity anyway so it all tends to work out in the end. I just wish they made a bigger splash on steel 😎

There is a degree of 77 gr separation anxiety for sure.

Yeah the $0.14/rd was great times. Should have bought a LOT more. Hell you can get smk for not much more than the cc now.

We bought so many of those Noslers and never dreamed we could run out, but sure as shit, when you shoot them in bolts, and AR's they just go fast. 2,000 rounds of the RMR 69's every month until they go .25 is my plan. I want a monster stash.

Are these a decent replacement for the 77smk?

From 500 yards and in... YES! We've shot them to 1000 yards in the Rem 700 bolt gun, and they'll get there. But in 14.5-16" ARs, the 77s start to outshine past 500-600 yards.

I would even say to maybe 750 yards. They are not SMK's but damn close. If or when they make a 77grain version, then that would be a very decent replacement. But for most of the world that shoots inside 500-750, they are a great replacement.

Have you guys run any of these 69s with H335?

Asking as I have plenty on hand, it's my go-to powder for .223, and I do get good results with it under Hornady 75gr BTHP.

No. I keep a pound of 335 for the occasional night shoot. It's glorious for flash with a chamber brake.

It's all extruded powders these days.

Really? I shoot alot at night, hadn't noticed any more flash than other stuff, unless it's coming out of a short barrel!

    Only A2 cages here though.
