Yeah, that's why I posted the flag info. I hypothesize that many people "identifying" as asexual, just can't or won't go to the trouble to get sex. When you consider how stupid the entire dance has become with the sociopoliticized climate regarding sex and gender, I can't really fault some people who decide the juice isn't worth the squeeze. I can only imagine how intimidating it is for people with social anxieties.

The fear of failure (or repeated failure) might be the driving factor for some. We all know the younger generation (not all) have been taught that everyone is special and no one loses, so failing, which in pickups and relationships have a pretty low percentage rate in the grand scheme of things, is not an "option" for some. They just can't take that kind of repeated failure.

It's funny, but almost immediately after getting married I attained a Jedi level ability to talk to literally any female on the planet about almost anything. They also seemed more genuinely willing to talk to me, not sure what that says about me or being married in general.

I can now talk to women who don't even speak my language completely. I can talk to an entire table full of girls, even if I'm by myself. I can talk to girls about virtually any subject, including completely made up subject. These were all very alien skills when I was younger and single.

Worst thing now is seeing some younger guy (usually one of my students) who has a girl that is obviously at least casually interested in him, and having to tell him "Hey dummy....wake the hell up...she likes you." That scene from Gran Torino when he tells the kid that "That girl Yum Yum, she likes you and you're blowing it", yeah I feel like the antiquated version of Clint Eastwood.

I’m definitely part of the problem here. I’m 35 and never married, and not really looking to be. It’s great that some people want to live that lifestyle, but it’s not for me, and I think it’s important that our society has evolved to a point that men and women that don’t want to be married or have kids don’t feel obligated to do so just to fit in. There a multiple ways to be happy and successful, I think its important for people to always think about what they really want, rather than just subscribe to cultural norms.
