I had never seen the now not recommended press check. It makes me cringe just seeing Larry demonstrate it. Never seen that done, hope to never see it done. How was that ever a thing? Any of you ever taught that method?

I've never seen the no longer recommended press check; it appears incredibly dangerous.

Neither have I. How did anyone ever think that was a bright idea?
Can't watch it at work, but is it that "pinch" method with the thumb in the trigger guard?

Glad to see we are in agreement and I'm not losing my mind. One does not need to be a DEVGRU Delta ninja to realize what a terrible method of press checking that is. I'm amazed that was ever a thing. LAV stopped recommending it after seeing two guys have an AD apparently. I wonder when that was.

I think it was the original military training method. Terrible idea. Yes I have seen it done once or twice.
Hasn't anyone watched a Michael Mann movie before??

Its still the easiest way to align 1911 and CZ-75 slides for take down. One would hope folks clear pistols before disassembly though.
