    Just the sun in a hot summer day is enough to require gloves on a bare aluminum handguard.

    Oh ok. I haven't been able to find an outdoor range near me yet, so I didn't know that. I guess I'm going to have to buy some handguards regardless now, because I do want to eventually be able to shoot outdoors without frying my hands in the process.

    I should correct myself - if you lay the rifle down in the sun, it will be blistering hot when you pick it up. When you are carrying it around, the airflow helps a little. Still too hot for my tender hands.

    Either way, it sounds like I'll still need a handguard of some kind. I'll probably start checking a few out today.
