I knew about Meyer winning the MOH and had a general idea of what had happened and such, but didn't know the details. This was one hell of a bad day and seemingly perfect storm for FUBAR experience, and hearing about how the ROE prevented them from getting the fire support they needed is maddening. Were there any changes made after that event?

It's a long podcast, totally worth it if you have not listened to that. The look on Meyer's face at times talking about it, hits you in the feelz. Maybe my imagination, but seemed like even Jacko was working to hold together and it seemed his voice started to break up a bit at some parts.

The book was a good read. It also has a lot of information about Captain Swenson, another MOH recepient from that same day. He was very vocal to the point of almost being forced to leave the Army. After his award he rejoined and is currently an 0-5.

Is that what he said? Or was he referring to the people who claim or rather insinuate they were prior sof/badass on Instagram? Watched his live feed when this drama happened, I thought it was very specific who he was referencing…and it wasn’t the average civilian.

Not at all. He said wearing camo and gear “acting line operators on the range”.

I hate to say this but Swenson is probably as high as he is gonna go, MoH or not. He'll likely retire as a LtCol. He pissed into the Wheaties of several people high on the food chain, essentially calling them out for lack of support. IIRC he was originally awarded the Silver Star as a finger to the eye for "complaining" but enough evidence was brought forward into the limelight (including much from Meyers himself) that they couldn't thwart it any longer. Obviously Congress makes the award but you know damn well there were a few senior flag officers who had their panties in a wad over it, gritting their teeth, but couldn't do a damn thing about it.....except put his career in quicksand.

He's the poster child for why the Second Amendment exists in the first place. The attitudes brewing in military and law enforcement culture are not only morally reprehensible but make it obvious that they as a group have absolutely zero understanding of the document to which they took their oaths.

Don't EVER let these tyrants shame you for exercising your rights. You, as a part of The People, have a constitutionally recognized God-given RIGHT to bear arms. They, as members of the Militia, have the PRIVILEGE of bearing arms supplied to them by Congress, i.e. we The People, which can be revoked at any time, by force if necessary. The high potential for the Militia to become culturally backwards and tyrannical, just like this individual, is precisely why the Second Amendment exists. It acknowledges that their training and organization is necessary to our common defense, but above all it calls on we The People to keep them in check. The entire purpose is for us to have the same arms as them, and, by implication, to know how to use them. His statements are borderline treasonous. Seditious at best.

So without question, he's entitled to his opinion and he's earned it. He's paid more to have any opinion than many.

That said, it's sad that he doesn't fundamentally understand all the freedoms he defends nor does he have an adequate understanding of the Constitution that he swore an oath to protect and defend. But I've easily heard dumber shit, even from members of the military.

Hell no less a great American than John Glenn gave us the 1968 Gun Control Act.
