The unusual lawsuit was filed in U.S. federal court in Boston. Among those being sued are some of the biggest names in guns, including: Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc.; Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc.; Beretta U.S.A. Corp.; Colt’s Manufacturing Company LLC, and Glock Inc. Another defendant is Interstate Arms, a Boston-area wholesaler that sells guns from all but one of the named manufacturers to dealers around the U.S.

The manufacturers did not immediately answer requests for comment.

The Mexican government argues that the companies know that their practices contribute to the trafficking of guns to Mexico and facilitate it. Mexico wants compensation for the havoc the guns have wrought in its country."

Maybe it would be a little awkward to sue the company that you're trying to buy weapons from?

SIG should tell them to FO. Their number will come up eventually.

The Cartels probably have a better credit rating than the Mexican government. They pay in cash.

Gotta lotta nerve, suing the very people they need to supply their weaponry... I'd say the entire US arms industry should embargo 'em and let 'em make their own, but then they'd just turn to the Eurotrash, Russkies or Chicoms.

Given that the Cartels own the military and the cartels were actually formed from a nucleus of US trained Mexican special forces who were intended to knock out the drug trade but actually took it over by absorbing the power vacuum they created I'd say it's a safe bet they will get as many SIGs as they request.

Can we sue them for allowing human flotsam to ooze across our southern border?

    Yeah, I didn't think so.

It was just the Zetas who were ex Mexican SF guys. They were originally the enforcement wing of the Gulf Cartel, and then they got big enough to turn on their former employer and form their own cartel. They were probably the most violent and aggressive of the cartels, but they aren't as elite as they used to be; most of the original ex-SF guys are dead or in prison, and they've apparently had a lot of internal fractures, so they aren't as powerful as before.

Yea, I don't think many of the original Zetas are still with us. Their war with the Templars and Sinaloa ran them down pretty hard. CJNG are the aggressive up and comers now....
