MPi-AKS-74N built by Two Rivers Arms

I just received my MPi-AKS-74N that was built by Two Rivers Arms. I sent them a matching numbers used kit with a virgin East German barrel. The receiver is matching numbers from 74ULLC. The 922(r) compliance parts are the receiver, an Arsenal fire control group and an Arsenal AK74 gas piston. They assembled it, painted it and installed a NOS rear sight leaf that I'd acquired.

Beautiful looking gun. Well done, good for you. I have a Bulgarian AK74 build that I love. Very cool.

Freaking gorgeous.I wish I would have picked up one of those kits when they were floating around.

+1 When those cheap E. German kits flooded in there really were no receivers. Wish I grabbed them all. Those plus a Nodak receiver now are grail guns.

Holy crap that looks amazing! Two Rivers does all my AK builds and while their wait times have gone up dramatically they do amazing work.

When were these parts kits available? I had my Bulgy AKS-74 built around 2008, so I'm assuming a bit before then.

I don't care what AK purist say, 5.45 is the way to go.

I bought the virgin East German barrel about 11 years ago from Apex for $125 . I got the used East German AK74 kit in 2014 for $800 from Desert Fox Sales.

Remember when those mags were $5 each? My god CDNN used to advertise four pack NIW East German 5.45 bakelites with a pouch for $24.99, I should have bought 20 four packs. But back then Romy 5.45 AKs were selling for $299 so nobody thought it would ever change.

I bought several sealed 4-packs from whatacountry.com that came in brand new East German magazine pouches. They were $20 each. I remember feeling like I missed out when they raised the price to $25.

I got my first 74 mags from Northridge International. Same deal, $24.99 - 4 mags, pouch, cleaning kit, and oddly, a blank adapter for a 7.62 AK. Got them for my then-new SAR-2. My first ever gun.
Back in those days if you asked a gun shop employee about 5.45x39 the usual response was “hurrr….durr..doncha’ mean five-five-six?”
