    I have a Colt SMG parts kit. The handguard cap is secured by the fsb. The fsb holds it in place against a step in the barrel. The barrel is slightly larger in diameter behind the handguard cap no need for gas tube screws etc.

    But what keeps the cap from spinning?

    It’s tight enough that it doesn’t spin freely. The handguards also help.

    Colt found it important enough that they installed the roll pins. Just sayin.

    This is a Colt SMG upper. No roll pin no need for it.
