Aug or Tavor? Pro's and Con's?

Just traded into an AUG. Honestly, it was kind of a bucket list gun for me so I may be a little biased. I really like it. Ergonomics are great, but there are some things I would recommend you do asap. First, get the Corvus front rail that replaces the vertical grip. You can attach a rail and grip to that as well, but it allows for a more American style of grip, and the light mounting options are much better. Second, get a shell deflector, I ordered the Corvus, but there are other options, and Steyr is releasing a solution this year. I would also recommend that you set the expectations to realistic. The AUG is an awesome rifle, and very high quality, but it is not an AR. It will not shoot, feel, or behave like one. My love for the rifle is because it's a little odd compared to most U.S. offerings, and that is why I plan on keeping it around, if you get one and try to replace your go to AR-15 setup with it you will not be successful. I actually use mine as a truck gun now, it's very easy to transport due to the smaller size overall.

Yes, I watch a lot of Garand Thumb videos in general on rainy days. His comment about high recoil was a little curious but, not overly surprising considering its intended mission.

Regarding noise, I don't really expect a bullpup to be ear safe with the ejection port that close to my ear. You are also bringing the muzzle closer to your ear as well.

In terms of down range noise, the noise issue is likely moot unless you are getting some whistle from the gas like I experienced with a Ruger Mini-14.

My personal vote is get the AUG with the factory mags. I don't care about AR mag compatibility because I ain't buying an AUG as a practical exercise. In fact, I am thinking about converting mine from a pic rail upper to one of the crazy factory optics. Probably the 3x

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the original factory optic. It may be cool like recreating an M-16 clone like an SPR but, that is not my thing.

The Manticore optic mount keeps the looks of the original while letting you use modern LPVOs.

It really seems like the best of both worlds.
