Carry revolver preference Blued Vs. Stainless?

    Or other?

    Just curious.

I favor dark-colored carry guns to increase the "Surprise!" factor.

    You?

I have a mod 58 S&W I brought back from the dead that I had Melonited.
It’s all black and bulletproof, except for Sambar stocks.

I have 3 Mountain Guns that are Stainless.

And yeah, My preference is a blue or black revolver.

A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

My hunting revolvers are SS because they're Freedom Arms and Ruger Super Redhawks. Customs that I have built I choose blued, though.

I prefer a flat, dark, finish. It doesn't glare as much in bright light, either sunlight or artificial.

If I were to carry a revolver, I’d want it to be stainless, which has been treated with a Nitride process.

Carry revolver preference Blued Vs. Stainless?

Good to great Colt and Smith blues are a terrible thing to destroy. My main bear pistol is a Stainless 44 and it is really the only one I carry on a semi-regular basis other than the .357 model 60 Pro Series that is just so easy to conceal, also in stainless.

I always loved the deep blue on the older S&W revolvers. My old Charter Arms 38 that I bought back in 1985 is still a dull matte blue. It has been a constant companion / truck gun. I've got a stainless S&W model 640 (357) but that is because Smith doesn't make it in blue.
Stainless is nice but blue is more discreet when it counts.

My current carry revolver is a S&W 442 which is the blued version of the 642. I had a 637 before this gun and my wife previously had a different 442. I bought the 442 over the 642 purely because I came across it first.

I never noticed any difference in the three guns besides controls. The current 442 might show a little more wear on the finish than my 637 did, but I also think Ive had it longer at this point.

Living in Phoenix we really dont have to deal with rust, so I couldnt tell you how either performed.

    Don't really care.
My Model 10 is blued, my 686 is stainless.
I prefer the 686, but then I also prefer 7 rounds of .357 magnum to 6 rounds of .38 special... lol.
You know what I like best about most people?

    Their dogs.
