I carry nickel, blued, and stainless.

My favorite right now is a no dash S&W Model 586.

I've hade blued, stainless and whatever black finish they put on the S&W 442's and 340PD's. I have a 642 in aluminum/stainless now. I like it best.

Stainless. Granted my frames are aluminum though.

I don't want to rub that bluing off!

Ever shoot a shiny stainless revolver on a bright day, especially one that is fixed sighted with the rear and, often, the front sights are also stainless? Not good. Some stainless revolvers have a slight rib/rough finish on the barrel that breaks up the bright reflection of the barrel, serrated sights, and so on, but my Ruger New Vaquero was a real SOB in the sun so it made me more conscious of lighting conditions and its affect on POI.

S&W K or L frame, no preference on finish really. The only Ruger I have is one of the 6- shot Redhawk .357s, and I'd have to hire someone to carry that beast for me.
