Do i want a Dead air sandman fde

I'm looking for my next can, budget is $1kish. Most likely will live on a 5.56, i already have a Nomad and a cgs 9mm can. I am liking the keymo system but thats all I know.
    Weight in a concern 1st
Length 2nd since its going on a 14.5
Sound is 3rd because its 5.56.

Talk me into it or out of it, maybe add something to my radar. Yes the surefire can is nice but I don't see that happening because I'm not completely sold on a 5.56 dedicated can.

The Sandman is a fantastic can. I use it on 5.56 and 7.62.

I have 2 dead air cans and have enjoyed them both, and feel like support is there if I need it. Otherwise they seem to be well engineered.

My first can was a SandmanL, the second was a SandmanS. Not going to be the guy to talk you out of it.

My SandmanS sits on my BCM 11.5 nearly permanently and I have zero complaints. The FDE one would be cool.

I have the Sandman S and K. Both are new to me but they have met my expectations in the initial uses. I moved them around on a 12.5" and 16" rifles. Loved the Keymo. Had a first shot fireball on the 12.5 with the K that went away on following shots. Both of mine still have the stock 30 cal caps.

    I'd say go for it.

I have used an S on an 11.5 inch, 13.7 inch and 16 inch 5.56, 10 inch 300 BLK and even a 308 bolt gun to hunt whitetail deer. There may be some that others have a personal preference for but it is a great option.

Does it need to be full auto rated? Durable as a tank? That is really what SureFire does well. If you don't need it to be "seal proof" lots of other options available. Soccom's are really nice and the QD system is pretty amazing but if you don't plan to actually swim with your rifle or go banging through jungles you may not need it.

I'm assuming this will be a dedicated HD gun?

If you're already invested in the Dead Air universe I'd just grab the Sandman S and have it be you're hard-use whore of a can. It's what she was built for.

Hd being home defense? No, it will not be a dedicated HD gun. I'm kinda torn between the CGS or the sandman right now. Or just get a 22 can

Correct, meant Home Defense. Given wants and needs I suspect you'd be most content with a Sandman. I think you've effectively ruled out Sure Fire. I have no first hand experience with CGS so I can't offer an opinion.

I’ve never really liked 6.5”+ cans on a 14.5”. You already have a Nomad. If you want something else with a Keymo, I’d consider the Sandman K, just for length. Don’t expect it to be super quiet, of course.

You have a rifle can and a pistol can… maybe its time for that rimfire can?
